The Japan based operations of the popular Canadian broker, Oanda have indicated to customers that they will be changing margin requirements for some products again in light of the spread of Covid-19 disruptions around the world and their impact on global financial markets.

As of April 13, 2020, the following changes will take place:

  • Increase in minimum margin requirement for AUD/SGD from 2% to 3%
  • Increase in minimum margin requirement for AUD/CAD from 2% to 3%
  • Increase in minimum margin requirement for CAD/JPY from 2% to 3%

Customers holding positions in any of the above-mentioned pairs are advised to check whether they have sufficient funds to maintain open positions.
