It seems that increased trader activity and market volatility may be having an impact on broker operations these days as the world continues to be challenged by Covid-19 disruptions. IG Group Holdings plc (LON:IGG) reported yesterday that it had experienced a major outage, as indicated by its social media and customer support channels. As of the writing of this piece, the technology looks to be operating per normal.
According to the status report from May 21st, the following systems were impacted:
The brokerage has not provided any details about the root cause of the issues experienced by clients. Following the outage, the company indicated to traders that “[they’re] extremely sorry for the issues experienced earlier. Our services have resumed to normal and we are monitoring the status. Please logout and log back in”, IG said.
During the current Covid-19 pandemic traders need to be prepared for such instances or outages, as well as extreme and quick market price moves.
