PU Prime, a globally recognised fintech leader, has reaffirmed its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) values through a hands-on corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative in partnership with the Air and Coastal Defense Command of the Royal Thai Navy. Held on May 22, 2025, in Sattahip, this environmental campaign focused on restoring coastal ecosystems through three key activities: beach cleanup, mangrove seedling planting, and crab release.
The program is part of PU Prime’s broader ESG strategy, which emphasizes sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and social impact across the regions it serves.
Driving Tangible Environmental Impact
The CSR initiative was designed to contribute directly to the rehabilitation and protection of Thailand’s fragile coastal ecosystems. Each of the three core activities was selected for its long-term ecological value and alignment with local conservation priorities.
1. Beach Cleanup: Combating Marine Debris
Volunteers from PU Prime tackled pollution head-on by collecting harmful waste—including plastics, fishing gear, and non-biodegradable litter—from the shoreline. This effort targeted threats to marine wildlife such as turtles, dolphins, and fish, which are often entangled in or ingest hazardous debris. The cleanup not only improved the coastal landscape but also underscored the critical role businesses and communities play in fighting the global plastic crisis.
2. Mangrove Seedling Planting: Restoring Natural Defenses
The team planted Avicennia marina mangrove seedlings, known for their resilience in coastal environments. These trees act as natural barriers against erosion, storm surges, and rising sea levels. Mangroves also serve as rich breeding grounds for marine life and are highly effective at carbon sequestration. The initiative educated participants on the vital role mangroves play in climate resilience, coastal livelihoods, and biodiversity conservation.
3. Crab Release: Strengthening Marine Biodiversity
The final activity involved releasing native crab species into their natural habitats to promote biodiversity and ecosystem balance. Crabs contribute to healthy benthic systems by recycling nutrients and supporting food webs. Conducted under expert guidance, the release ensured ecological sensitivity and further advanced PU Prime’s commitment to sustainable marine conservation.
A Model for ESG in Action
PU Prime provided comprehensive logistical support for the initiative, including transportation, environmental facilitators, safety equipment, and participant amenities. All activities were conducted in accordance with local environmental regulations, ensuring safety, impact, and alignment with Thailand’s ecological preservation goals.
