Ultima Markets has launched XAUUSD247, a new gold CFD designed to extend trading beyond the conventional five-day market schedule and into weekends.
The instrument became available on September 7, 2026 through MetaTrader 5, giving eligible clients access to gold trading throughout Saturday and Sunday as well as during most weekday hours.
XAUUSD247 uses a smaller 1 oz contract size, offers tiered leverage of up to 1:100, and includes dedicated controls covering margin calculation and total exposure.
How Does XAUUSD247 Work?
XAUUSD247 is a separate CFD instrument from the conventional XAUUSD contract available through the broker.
Its main difference is the trading schedule. While standard gold markets generally close for the weekend, XAUUSD247 remains available throughout Saturday and Sunday, subject to the broker’s trading conditions and scheduled weekday session breaks.
Ultima Markets said the product was designed to allow clients to react to market-moving events that occur when conventional gold markets are closed.
Geopolitical developments, elections, central-bank news and other macroeconomic events can occur during weekends and potentially lead to price gaps when conventional markets reopen.
With XAUUSD247, clients can potentially adjust or hedge positions during those periods rather than waiting for the start of the traditional trading week.
Product Takeaway
XAUUSD247 Trading Hours Include Weekends
Despite the 24/7 positioning, trading is not literally uninterrupted every minute of the week because scheduled session breaks still apply on weekdays.
| Day | Trading Hours (GMT+3) |
| Monday | 00:00–00:45 and 01:01–24:00 |
| Tuesday–Friday | 00:00–01:00 and 01:01–24:00 |
| Saturday–Sunday | 00:00–24:00 |
The most significant change is therefore full weekend availability rather than the complete removal of all session interruptions.
Contract Size Drops to 1 oz of Gold
XAUUSD247 uses a contract size of 1 lot = 1 oz of gold.
That is considerably smaller than the 100 oz contract size commonly associated with the broker’s standard XAUUSD product.
The smaller contract changes how position sizing works and can provide more granular exposure for clients trading the new instrument.
Ultima Markets lists a minimum transaction size of one lot for XAUUSD247.
| Specification | XAUUSD247 |
| Underlying Reference | Gold |
| Product Type | CFD |
| Contract Size | 1 lot = 1 oz gold |
| Minimum Trade Size | 1 lot |
| Maximum Leverage | Up to 1:100, tiered |
| Commission | $0 for STP and ECN accounts |

Leverage Is Capped at 1:100 and Applied in Tiers
Ultima Markets offers leverage of up to 1:100 on XAUUSD247, but the maximum ratio does not necessarily apply to every position size.
The broker uses a tiered leverage structure, meaning margin requirements can increase as exposure rises.
This differs from simply applying the same maximum leverage ratio across an entire position regardless of size.
Tiered leverage can help limit the amount of highly leveraged exposure accumulated through increasingly large positions.
Risk Takeaway
Single-Sided Margin Applies to Hedged Positions
XAUUSD247 also incorporates single-sided margin calculation.
Under this approach, eligible offsetting long and short positions do not necessarily require full margin to be posted independently on both sides.
Instead, margin can be calculated based on the relevant net or larger-side exposure under the broker’s applicable rules.
The structure may reduce the capital required for certain hedged positions, although it does not remove the market, execution or liquidity risks associated with maintaining those positions.
Exposure Limits Add Another Risk Control
Ultima Markets has also introduced exposure controls specifically for XAUUSD247.
These limits are intended to restrict the amount of risk that can be accumulated through the instrument, particularly as the product remains tradable during periods when conventional gold venues are closed.
The broker may therefore limit additional positions once predefined exposure levels are reached.
Such restrictions are particularly relevant during weekends, when available liquidity and price formation can differ from conventional weekday gold trading.
Weekend Gold Trading Comes With Different Liquidity Risks
The ability to trade through Saturday and Sunday does not mean weekend conditions will necessarily resemble the most liquid periods of the conventional gold market.
Traditional gold futures venues and much of the institutional spot market are closed during significant parts of the weekend.
An OTC CFD offered during those periods therefore depends on the broker’s pricing arrangements and available underlying liquidity sources.
That can create differences in spreads, available depth and price behaviour compared with highly liquid weekday sessions.
Trader Takeaway
XAUUSD247 Is a CFD, Not Physical Gold
Clients trading XAUUSD247 do not acquire physical bullion or direct ownership of gold.
The instrument is a contract for difference, meaning gains and losses are based on changes in the relevant quoted gold price under the broker’s product terms.
There is therefore no physical delivery of gold and no ownership claim over underlying bullion.
This distinction is particularly important when comparing leveraged gold CFDs with alternatives such as physical bullion, exchange-traded products or exchange-traded gold futures.
MT5 Is the Initial Platform
XAUUSD247 launched on MetaTrader 5 on September 7.
Ultima Markets said the instrument is expected to become available through its own mobile application and additional platforms later in September 2026.
MT4 support is not part of the currently announced rollout.
Eligible account types at launch include STP, ECN and USC accounts, while Copy Trading Pro is excluded from the product.
STP and ECN Accounts Get Zero Commission
Ultima Markets lists XAUUSD247 trading at zero commission for STP and ECN accounts.
Zero commission does not mean trading is cost-free, however.
Clients should still consider spreads, financing arrangements and any other applicable trading costs before opening a position.
Those costs may also vary across market conditions, particularly during periods of lower liquidity.
Ultima Markets Classifies the Instrument Under Crypto on Its Platform
One unusual operational detail disclosed by Ultima Markets is that XAUUSD247 is classified under the crypto instruments category on its platform.
That platform classification does not change the economic reference of the contract: XAUUSD247 remains a gold-linked CFD.
The classification appears to relate to how the continuously traded instrument is organised within the broker’s trading infrastructure rather than indicating that the product represents a cryptocurrency.
Platform Takeaway
24/7 Gold Products Are Emerging Across Retail Brokerage
Ultima Markets is not the only retail broker experimenting with extended-hours gold CFDs.
The wider trend reflects demand for instruments that remain tradable during periods when conventional underlying markets are closed.
Crypto markets have familiarised retail traders with continuous trading, while geopolitical events increasingly highlight the limitations of products that stop trading over weekends.
For brokers, extending gold trading creates another way to differentiate product offerings beyond spreads, leverage and instrument count.
For traders, however, continuous access needs to be assessed alongside the pricing, liquidity and execution conditions available outside traditional market hours.
What Comes Next?
XAUUSD247 is now available on MT5 following its September 7 launch, giving eligible Ultima Markets clients access to weekend gold CFD trading for the first time through the new instrument.
The next stage of the rollout is expected later in September, when Ultima Markets plans to extend availability to its mobile application and other platforms.
The combination of a 1 oz contract size, tiered leverage, single-sided margin and weekend trading makes XAUUSD247 structurally different from the broker’s conventional XAUUSD contract.
Its main test will be how pricing, spreads and liquidity perform during the weekend periods that the product was specifically created to cover.
Risk Warning: XAUUSD247 is a leveraged CFD and does not provide ownership of physical gold. Extended trading hours can involve different liquidity, spread and execution conditions from conventional gold-market sessions. Leverage can magnify both gains and losses.
